I've had my blog for a year and a half and forgot to introduce myself.

Well, this is awkward.

This is my 16th blog post, and not one of my previous posts tells you who I am. Sure, there are bits and pieces. And, my site does have an “about me” page. But, it leaves out a few essential details. So, if you’ve wondered about the face behind all these words, here you go.

The basics:

I’m Rachael. I grew up in Ohio with three siblings, an American mom, and a Swiss immigrant dad. As a kid, I was good at three things: reading, helping people feel better, and asking “why”. These are still my strengths today.

As an adult, I live in Austin, Texas. I moved here in November of 2022 (last month, if you’re catching this post when it came out). I prefer to be outside any time the weather is above 60 degrees. I spend my indoor time sewing, knitting, and painting. I pick up a new hobby every couple of months or so (thanks, ADHD!).

Not much has changed from this photo, really.

The professional part:

I have a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology. I’m an ACSM-Certified Exercise Physiologist and a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. Over the years, I’ve worked in:

  • Personal training

  • Group exercise

  • Cardiopulmonary rehab

  • Health coaching

  • Health coach management

  • Content writing and editing

The “why I do what I do”:

I identify as a multipotentialite: I have several strengths and callings. No single career path, hobby, etc. can satisfy all of my mental needs. I work as a health coach, but I also help other health coaches with their writing. While both challenge me in different ways, they both give me an avenue to help others. I’ve asked myself: “How can I do the most good?” throughout my career as a way to remain close to my professional values.

Through health coaching, I help people build habits that improve their lives. Through content writing, I help other coaches build their brand, reach a larger audience, and ultimately help even more people in return.

The miscellany:

I love good writing utensils. Ask me for pen recommendations.

I walk on my toes. Some people think it’s because I’m short, but it’s because toe-walking is quiet. I prefer to move about unnoticed.

You can bribe me to do just about anything with a pastry, especially if it’s French.

I love scary stories. Please tell me about your friend’s haunted apartment.

Thanks for reading and getting to know me better. If you have a good ghost story or want that pen recommendation, you can find me here.
